After organizing a successful Parish-wide Youth Rally in Dec 2005, our Parish Priest saw a need to form a ministry specifically for youths between the ages of 13-17 years. The SIC Junior Youth Ministry (JYM) was formed in February 2006.
The programmes organized by JYM, has helped to supplement the Sunday School system. The JYM is also actively animating 9:00 am Masses, during the month where there is a 5th Sunday. The members are also actively involved in lectoring during mass as well as in the hospitality ministry. Some of the members are also assistant catechists in Sunday School.
The ministry has gone on to organize many beneficial events for the youth such as Easter and Christmas fellowships, fortnightly youth gatherings, outreach programs, corporal works of mercy, excursions and other relevant formations.
Main activities
- YOUTH GATHERING: 1st & 3rd Sunday of every month, 1:00pm - 3:00pm, at Room 2-1 (Unless notified otherwise).
- FORMATION for Youth, and also assisting in Sunday School Special Baptism and 1st Holy Communion Camp.
- Youth Rally - 2nd Weekend of Dec (11th-14th Dec 2009), being the 5th Annual Rally.
- Leadership training programme for Youth Outreach Team members.
